Powderblue berries are covered with a dusty, white powder that is called a “bloom” when the blueberry is completely ripe. They are harvested in June and early July and marketed in grocery stores to be purchased in one pint or one-half pint, plastic containers, a pint usually costing $4.00 per during the peak of the harvest. The Powderblue Blueberry bushes are completely finished producing in the Fall.  When the first freeze comes, the leaves change into beautiful fall colors of red, yellow, orange and purple.  A cluster of Powderblue blueberries can contain as many as 50 berries in a cluster tightly crowded, but only those covered with the powderblue dusty color are ripe enough for eating.
